INTRODUCTION
Introduction to the Department of Healthcare Industry Technology Development and Management
of National Chin-Yi University of Technology
I. The Length of Schooling
The University officially established the Department of Leisure Sports Management in 2004 and was renamed as the “Department of Leisure Industry Management” on August 1, 2008. The Department has two core modules, i.e. Tourism and Catering Management and Leisure Sports Management. It has three programs which include the four-year vocational training during the daytime, the four-year vocational training during the night time (continuing education), and the four-year specialized vocational training (the flagship plan for its dual training system). These programs recruit senior high school graduates who majored in Business Management, Tourism and Catering, and English. Since 2016, the university’s Project Management and Research Institute have merged into the Department, and hence the Master’s Program of Project Management for the Department of Leisure Industry Management came into being. The program began enrolling students in 2016.
To meet the needs and lead the trend of the healthcare industry, as approved by the Ministry of Education, on August 1st, 2023, NCUT announced that its “Department of Leisure Industry Management” has undergone a rigorous program restructuring process and is now known as the “Department of Healthcare Industry Technology Development and Management.”
II. The Goal
NCUT Healthcare Industry Technology Development and Management students receive personalized, hands-on, project-based education from our professional and passionate faculty. We aim to cultivate professionalism and skillsets in management, intelligent services, assistive technology and application in sports, and health and well-being coaching in today's healthcare industry. Students develop practical skills and knowledge and a deeper understanding of the importance of health and well-being for the community and society.
III. The characteristics
3.1 NCUT Healthcare Industry Technology Development and Management program prepares students to uncover essential skillsets in healthcare technology and management and assistive technology application in sports. Students develop the professionalism and knowledge to evaluate and promote the importance of well-being in the 21st century.
3.2 The spirit of “practicing while learning and learning while practicing”

3.5 Encouraging students to obtain professional licenses through the provision of counseling to students by the University

IV. Current faculty and expertise
There are nine full-time teachers in the Department, seven of which are professors , one associate professors and one assistant professor. Also, there are 28 part-time teachers from other departments of the University and other schools. Their expertise includes the management of Technology Development , Catering, Sports, Projects, etc. Hence, they are able to provide students with diversified professional knowledge and experience.
V. Existing equipment
The Department strives to improve the planning and construction of teaching equipment to facilitate the cultivation of students’ professional skills which will be needed for their future employment. This is also to assist teachers in teaching and research. Currently, there are two teaching classrooms, six specialized classrooms, one conference hall, one computer classroom, and nine research rooms.
VI. Future prospects
6.1 The University will establish sister school partnerships with prestigious international universities and exchange programs for the benefit of both teachers and students and promote international academic exchanges.
6.2 The University will offer courses on project management,healthcare industry technology development and healthcare industry management to aid in encouraging the students to obtain healthcare professional licenses, which will enable them to meet the needs of the industry.
6.3 The University will provide counseling for the students who are to take the exams to compete for the positions of national parks, scenic areas, etc.
6.4 The University will comply with the international trend of Internet integration technology and strive to promote the performance of E-Management in the healthcare Industry.
6.5 The University will improve the benefits of the students who engage in off-campus internships overseas.
